ALYSSA VALLERO
Alyssa Vallero joined Rankin, Shuey, Mintz, Lampasona & Harper as an attorney in 2025.
Alyssa’s love for reading and writing, coupled with a strong interest in science and medicine, shaped her career path. She attended the University of California, Santa Cruz and earned her B.S. in Biology. Following undergrad, Alyssa worked in the biotechnology sector for AstraZeneca, contributing to research on various illnesses, including asthma and COVID. Her experience here deepened her passion for science but also inspired her to pursue a career where she could merge her analytical skills with her communication strengths. As a first-generation immigrant, she always understood the importance of finding a strong voice for others, such as her grandparents, who couldn’t always speak for themselves. Watching her grandparents navigate challenges without a voice motivated her to seek a profession where she could amplify the voices of others. A career in law promised her the perfect intersection of her passions for science, reading, and writing.
Alyssa earned her J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law in December 2023. During law school, she interned for the California Supreme Court and the New York Legal Aid Society, where she first discovered the ability to mix two passions for science and the law. During both internships, she applied her biology expertise to assist in cases involving DNA analysis while gaining firsthand experience drafting Opinions and memoranda.
In her spare time, you will find Alyssa frequenting various farmers markets in the Bay Area with her two dogs or tending to her extensive plant collection.
